Try refinancing since May 09? I am closing 1/11/2010. 3 hard pulls on me and my boyfriends credit. APR is 4.65 now. Various SNAFUs with my taxes, partly becos I didn't have them in hand. But, Hey, I wouldn't have started the refinancing so soon, if someone had ADVISED me I needed the returns. I never did before. Regulations have changed? Then why not tell the customer. I don't even know what my closing costs will be cos I haven't seen the final, so called, paperwork. I paid $500 upfront with a non refundable deposit. I have a bad feeling about this ... Was supposed to close last week, but an amended form had to be resigned. I sure hope I don't fly off the handle and refuse to sign. I got a bad feeling...
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('14340','Carole Nelson','Try refinancing since May 09?
@Jason - Hi Jason,

As Murphy would have it, I discarded all the "no longer useful" notes associated with my mortgage last weekend while doing some spring cleaning.

I can tell you that I was given the number for the subordination department by the mortgage department. I first contacted the mortgage folks since I saw a "fax fee" on my mortgage that I assumed was to do with the subordination (turns out it was the fee for them to tell the broker what my payoff amount would be). But the woman I spoke to gave me the subordination number and actually put me through to that department. The subordination person was reasonably helpful in describing the wait period and letting me know when they had received my paperwork.

The number for the mortgage folks I lifted directly off of my statement: 1-800-634-7928 if that can help at all.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('8032','Marc','<a href=\'#comment-8030\' rel=\"nofollow\">@Jason<\/a> - Hi Jason,\r\n\r\nAs Murphy would have it, I discarded all the \"no longer useful\" notes associated with my mortgage last weekend while doing some spring cleaning.\r\n\r\nI can tell you that I was given the number for the subordination department by the mortgage department.
Hi Marc,

I am trying to get Suntrust to subordinate right now. You mention in your blog that you were able to call the subordination department. Would you be willing to provide me with that number? I have not been able to locate a phone number for that department.

Thanks in advance!

** Update Feb 15, 2009 **

I exchanged several emails with George on Friday. I cannot tell whether the Home Equity folks gave a decision on the subordination or not. But I *do* know that nothing happened.
Man, it's just so nice to know that your lender really doesn't give a crap.
I've spent the last hour or so researching Credit Unions but those seem to be quite the mixed bag. Generally, their published mortgage rates are pretty high, they don't seem to have much in the way of connectivity (I like to pull my financial information down to my computer) and, of course they seem pretty limited on locations where you can withdraw your money. Anybody out there with a credit union that they can speak for?
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('7973','Marc','** Update Feb 15, 2009 **\r\n\r\nI exchanged several emails with George on Friday.
** Update Feb 11, 2009 **

To his credit, Barry *did* call me later yesterday evening and left me his email address. So I sent off a note to him and George outlining my concerns. There is little they can do to right this SNAFU 'cause it seems that they have little or no pull with the Line of Credit folks but we'll see if they at least can keep the rest of the process on track and maybe see to it that my closing costs don't inflate when I'm in the lawyer's office.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('7971','Marc','** Update Feb 11, 2009 **\r\n\r\nTo his credit, Barry *did* call me later yesterday evening and left me his email address.
